Book cover titled "Falling Upward" by Richard Rohr, with subtitle "A Spirituality for the Two Halves of Life" and a gold badge indicating over 375,000 copies sold. Features autumn leaves floating on water.

This is not a book about growing old. Rohr divides life into two halves. He says we work during the first half of life to build the things we think will prove we are successful and productive members of society. The second half of life is about the work that happens in our hearts. It is learning that our identity and security is not in what we do or have done, who we are with, and what we have, but that our identity is our soul, our absoluteness in God, our true self. We learn to do our “survival dance” in the first half of life, and our “sacred dance” in the second half.
